Requirements for Degree Conferral

Category Contents
Credits & GPA - Completed at least 30 credits
- Have a grade point average equal to or higher than a B- (2.7/4.3)
Study Year - Minimum study year: 2 years ※ can be shorten up to 6 months.
- Maximum study year: 4 years ※ can be extended up to 2 semesters.
Paper Publication - Publication or Approval of one or more paper in domestic/international scholarly journal as above the co-author
- Presentation of research achievements by oral or poster in domestic/international academic conference as the presenter or 1st author
Comprehensive Examination Examination to assess student’s expertise knowledge in the major field
(1core, 1elective)
English Proficiency - The authorized English tests and passing marks are same as those notified at the admission to school
- A student who has submitted a report card at the admission to NCC-GCSP, does not need to submit a report card again
Thesis Defense A student who completed the minimum required credits and passed the comprehensive examination can apply for the thesis defense

Research Proposal

Research Proposal
Schedule - Consult with his/her advisor about graduate thesis plan
- Submission of Research Proposal Form: At the end of April/October
Required Forms - Research Proposal for Graduate Thesis
- Write briefly a summary of project purpose, scope, method, hypothesis and etc. (max. 3 pages)

Request for Thesis Defense for a Master’s Degree

Request for Thesis Defense for a Master’s Degree
Qualification - A student who completed at least 30 credits or expected to complete by the concerned semester and is recommended by his/her advisors
- A student who has passed the comprehensive examination
- A student who is submitted the record card for English Proficiency
Schedule - Formation of Thesis Defense Committee : At the beginning of April/October
- Submission of Request : At the beginning of April/October
- Thesis Defense
  - Preliminary : At the beginning of May/November
  - Final Thesis Defense : At the beginning of June/December
  ※ Detailed Schedule would be different depending on the committee - Submission of Result Report : At the middle of June/December

- A List of Thesis Defense Committee Members
- 5 Copies of Thesis

Organization of Thesis Evaluation Committee
Committee Members - The thesis evaluation committee should be organized 3 people including the advisor
- The committee members may include the outside expert with a doctoral degree except for NCC-GCSP professors

Thesis Defense

Thesis Defense - Examination 2 times in total
  - Preliminary : Public announcement
  - Final Thesis Defense: Attendance of whole committee members
- Thesis Acceptance Criteria
  - The thesis would be accepted if more than 2 of 3 committee members agree to pass
Thesis Submission - A Student who is planned to receive a degree at a spring semester should submit the copy of the final degree thesis at the end of January and to receive a degree at a fall semester should submit the copy at the end of July
- Submit 6 copies of the final degree thesis, and update an electronic file (PDF file)on online

Recognition of Published Paper - He/She should publish or present research achievement on a domestic/international scholarly journal or academic conference
- The research achievements submitted to meet the requirements for degree conferral should indicate NCC-GCSP as the institute the student belongs to
Deadline - The documentary evidence should be submitted to the Academic & Students Affairs Team, by the day before the request for thesis defense
